Rock N Roll Hall of Fame SNUBS

Nominees for 2011′s Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Induction have been announced – Alice Cooper, Donovan, Dr. John, J. Geils Band, Donna Summer, LL Cool J, Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond, Beastie Boys, Tom Waits and others on the list.

I say put in The Coop, put in Neil Diamond, put in Tom Waits (a true original!) and put in RUSH!! But wait …Rush are not nominated?? I don’t get a Bon Jovi nomination over Rush, or LL Cool J??

A 35-plus year career, iconic albums, killer musicianship and STILL touring and making records:: that’s rock n roll to me.

Well I am a huge racing fan and I can’t wait for the Singapore Grand Prix F1 race this weekend. It’s been a huge battle between 5 drivers this year for the title and it comes down to the final 5 races of the year : Singapore, Japan, Korea, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. This weekend’s night race in Singapore is a season highlight (along with Spa, Monza and Montreal!) – imagine doing 250 MPH on a street course under the lights racing through bridges and tunnels. Very trippy.  I’m rooting for Jenson Button of McLaren for the championship.

NASCAR’s title fight is a doozie as well with Denny Hamlin leading in points and I gotta say I’m rooting for him – kind of an underodg as he’s not as big a name as the Gordon’s or Busch’s or Johnson’s.

Also this weekend it’s the championship battle for the Nascar Canadian Tire Series crown. DJ Kennington (a special guest on the morning show Thursday morning) and JR Fitzpatrick go for the title at Kawartha Speedway Saturday aftternoon. The gap between the two is only 40 points, so it’ll be close.

LEAFS kick off ’10-’11 pre-season with a bang.

5-0 loss to Ottawa. Not to fret, LEAF-ITIS hasn’t set in yet ….only one game after all and I must say I like the new look buds this year — Versteeg (great 2-way player) Bozak, Armstrong, MacArthur, Brown - all solid players. Kadri needs some seasoning though – a stint with the Marlies to get his game pro-ready. 

I like the goaltending and the D.  Kessel needs to score however in bucketloads to make this team fly …IMO, Burke needs to add a top flight centreman. That is the key for this year’s success.

Predictions for this year??? I’m taking the Wings in the West (one last hurrah for Lidstrom), the Caps in the East and Steve Stamkos of  T-Bay to have a break-out year.
